Enjoying My Free Time With My Kids

About a year ago, I started realizing that my time away from work pretty much revolved around sitting in front of the television. I wanted to do something to get outside and start enjoying my time, so I began focusing on recreational activities and sports. I began going through and really spending time getting to the gym, and the difference was astounding. Within a few short months I really started feeling a lot better, and I knew that I owed it all to having fun, burning some calories, and making some muscle. This blog is here to help other people to enjoy time with their families and check out all of the great things you can do for fun.

Three Types Of Auto Racing To Experience With Your Family

by Herbert Richards

If you have children who are getting interested in auto racing — perhaps by watching it on TV or playing with toy race cars — it can be fun to plan a family outing to an actual race. Whether there's an opportunity near where you live or you choose to plan a weekend getaway around the race, you can have lots of fun together. Think about what type of racing you want to take in, and then begin to browse options online for possible fun family activity ideas. There may be more opportunities to see auto racing than you realize, including these three unique options that can appeal to children and adults alike.

Oval Racing

Oval track racing is very popular in many parts of the country, which means that it's easy to find opportunities to attend races. This type of track varies in length. You'll find oval tracks that are very short, which means that the cars will travel at a relatively low speed, while other tracks are very large and conducive to high-speed racing. Any family that has watched oval track racing on TV may be interested in attending one of these races in person. Many vehicle classes, including stock cars, sports cars, and open-wheel cars, race on oval tracks.

Dirt Racing

If you want to experience a completely different style of racing, look for a dirt track. This type of racing is also popular in several areas and offers an exciting product for fans. The dirt surface doesn't provide nearly as much traction as asphalt, which means that these cars slide around when they move through the turns. The tires of dirt cars churn up dirt during the race, which means that you'll want to sit high up in the grandstands to avoid getting messy. It can be fun for kids to walk along the bottom of the grandstands after one of these races to see how dirty they get.

Drag Racing

Drag racing can be an enjoyable type of auto racing to attend with your children. These cars travel short distances on straight tracks, known as drag strips, and move at extremely high rates of speed. The rates themselves last just seconds in length, but a drag racing event will have a large number of races throughout the day to keep fans entertained. Find one of these tracks in an area near you or in an area that you wish to visit and plan a race day event with your family.
