Enjoying My Free Time With My Kids

About a year ago, I started realizing that my time away from work pretty much revolved around sitting in front of the television. I wanted to do something to get outside and start enjoying my time, so I began focusing on recreational activities and sports. I began going through and really spending time getting to the gym, and the difference was astounding. Within a few short months I really started feeling a lot better, and I knew that I owed it all to having fun, burning some calories, and making some muscle. This blog is here to help other people to enjoy time with their families and check out all of the great things you can do for fun.

Three Benefits Of Using A Gun Sock

by Herbert Richards

A gun case is an integral piece of gear to own when you need to transport a firearm, but it's not the only thing that you should buy. If you've recently purchased your first gun and are shopping at a local or online gun shop for a variety of useful accessories, one item to consider is a gun sock. Gun socks are available in many sizes, making it easy to find one that will fit your particular firearm. This fabric sleeve extends over your gun, and many people place their firearm in a gun sock before loading it in their gun case or their gun safe. Here are three benefits of using a gun sock.

Prevent Dust

A gun sock can be a valuable tool to keep dust away from your firearm. Dust can negatively affect a gun in several different ways, including coating the optics, filling small crevices, and more. While a gun case can work well to keep dust away from the gun, dust can be present in the case if you occasionally leave it open for prolonged periods. Sliding your firearm into a gun sock and then securing the end of the sock with its built-in drawstring will keep dust away from the gun, regardless of how long you store it.

Keep Dry

While a firearm can operate in the rain, many gun owners prefer to keep their guns out of damp conditions. If your gun is exposed to a moist environment, you'll need to spend time thoroughly drying it in order to prevent rust and corrosion. A lot of gun owners use gun socks to keep their firearms dry in certain situations. For example, if you're transporting a gun between the gun safe in your home and a gun safe in your vehicle on a rainy day, it's easy to slip the gun into a gun sock to ensure that it stays dry during transit.

Prevent Excess Movement

A gun case should keep a firearm stationary, but it's possible that your gun could slide around if it's in a case that is too large. While buying the right size of the case is one solution, another option is to use a gun sock on the firearm. The bulk from the sock will help the gun to fit more snugly in the case, ideally restricting any movement when you're moving the case. Gun shops carry a variety of gun socks that you can buy for your firearm.
