Enjoying My Free Time With My Kids

About a year ago, I started realizing that my time away from work pretty much revolved around sitting in front of the television. I wanted to do something to get outside and start enjoying my time, so I began focusing on recreational activities and sports. I began going through and really spending time getting to the gym, and the difference was astounding. Within a few short months I really started feeling a lot better, and I knew that I owed it all to having fun, burning some calories, and making some muscle. This blog is here to help other people to enjoy time with their families and check out all of the great things you can do for fun.

Preparing To Store Your Motorboat

by Herbert Richards

During the winter months, you may need to store your motorboat until the temperature gets warm again. Unfortunately, improper boat storage can be a mistake that will lead to significant damage. Luckily, the steps to prepare your boat to be stored safely for winter are simple to follow.

Prepare The Fuel That Is The Boat's Tank

If your boat will be stored for more than a few weeks, the fuel will start to degrade. Eventually, the fuel will degrade enough to no longer be able to power the motor. Luckily, this can often be avoided without the need to fully drain the tank. For example, it is possible for you to use fuel stabilizing additives. These substances are capable of preventing the fuel from degrading for many months. There will be a maximum limit on how long fuel with additives will remain stable, but this should be more than long enough for most motorboat storage needs.

Disconnect The Battery

A common mistake that people will make when storing their boat is leaving the battery connected. This can lead to the battery gradually being depleted due to some of the systems the boat uses that may never turn off. An example of this could be certain types of navigation systems, clocks, and other electric components. Disconnecting the battery will prevent these components from fully draining the battery while it is in storage. When disconnecting the battery, it can also be a good time to clean the terminals before covering them with a protective cap. This can stop limescale and corrosion from potentially interfering with the flow of electricity from the battery.

Cover The Exhaust

The exhaust port is a part of the boat that individuals might not think will need much winterization. However, it can be a very attractive location for a number of pests to build nests. Once these pests build a nest, it can be very difficult to fully remove them, and there can be a risk of some of the debris from the nest falling too far into the exhaust system to be easily removed. To prevent this from occurring, the exhaust port should be closed or covered when the boat is placed into storage. This will prevent pests from being able to enter the exhaust port, but you may want to use brightly colored exhaust port covers to make sure that you remember to remove them when you are preparing the boat to be used again in the warmer months.
