Enjoying My Free Time With My Kids

About a year ago, I started realizing that my time away from work pretty much revolved around sitting in front of the television. I wanted to do something to get outside and start enjoying my time, so I began focusing on recreational activities and sports. I began going through and really spending time getting to the gym, and the difference was astounding. Within a few short months I really started feeling a lot better, and I knew that I owed it all to having fun, burning some calories, and making some muscle. This blog is here to help other people to enjoy time with their families and check out all of the great things you can do for fun.

What's The Best Way To Detox?

by Herbert Richards

If you're trying to quit smoking or just want to shore up your body's defenses because you aren't planning to quit smoking, you might be checking out detoxify drinks and foods at this point. Detoxing has become a big thing in the retail alternative health world, but it's a much more complicated process. Keep in mind that anything you drink isn't going to directly affect your lungs (you're kind of in big trouble if the drink goes there instead of your stomach), but you can choose healthy options that help your overall well-being.

Know You Need More Than a Drink

First, it's important to know that no one drink will be a panacea for everything. Water comes close; hydration with clean, drinkable water is one of the best ways to clear out what you can because anything that can be released via your kidneys will come out with that water. But you should also eat a healthy diet, lay off the sweets except for an occasional treat, and get adequate exercise and rest. If you're really concerned about making yourself as healthy as possible given your smoking habit, you've got to get everything else in good shape.

Strange Is Not Necessarily True

Sometimes detox protocols have some weird requirements that make you change your day drastically, such as the program where you drink nothing but lemon juice with maple syrup and cayenne pepper for several days. Odd diversions from a normal diet are not necessarily ones that are going to work for you. You need nutrition and hydration, and changing your dietary schedule too much, for example, can just create a sense of deprivation and loss.

Recognizable Ingredients Win

It's not unusual to see unfamiliar ingredient names on bottled detox drinks. Look up these ingredients to ensure you're not going to have an allergic reaction or that the ingredients won't clash with any medication you're taking. Chances are they won't, especially if you're drinking a natural detox made from fruits and vegetables, for example. But you want to be sure.

Don't Overdo Vitamins and Minerals

Some detox drinks contain vitamin and mineral supplements for a nutritional boost. However, if you already take a multivitamin, you could be at risk of an overdose, and it is possible to overdose on some vitamins and minerals, such as iron, or Vitamin A that's not in the form of beta carotene. Watch your intake so that you head toward health, rather than add another issue.

There are a lot of cleanses and detox programs out there, so take a look at what you'd have to do or what you'd have to drink and see if the ingredients sound like ones you'd be OK ingesting.
